Alan is the author of the acclaimed novel, AUDREY HEPBURN’S NECK, which won the Pacific Rim Book Prize and was translated into eight languages.  As a journalist, Alan's assignments have taken him from the Antarctic to the Himalayas. He has covered arts and culture for numerous publications.  A regular contributor to the Los Angeles Times, he created programs for BBC Radio and was a contributing editor at Travel & Leisure magazine.  His writing for Gourmet magazine was nominated for a James Beard Award
